Project: The highly skilled environmental team at Gobbell Hays Partners was selected by U.S. West in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for a unique project that involved removing the skin of an eleven-story building.  GHP’s experienced environmental studio successfully completed this $18 million project in spite of complications from the presence of asbestos-containing materials.

Details Include:
• Completion of a comprehensive project driven by deteriorating stone panels on the exterior of the high-rise
• Efficient abatement design and management for removal of ACM spray applied to vertical interior surfaces of exterior wall system, along with removal of stone  panels
• Innovative design to keep building partially occupied during the project and during the operation of $300 million in telephone switching equipment
• Creation of complex scaffolding system enclosing entire building with multiple-layer, fire-retardant polyethylene for “full building containment”
• Winner of engineering design awards to include: Grand Award, Consulting Engineering of Tennessee; Engineering Excellence Finalist, American Consulting Engineering Council.
